Rachitic Changes, Demineralization, and Fracture Risk in Healthy Infants and Toddlers with Vitamin D Deficiency [Pediatric Imaging]

Conclusion:
In infants and toddlers with vitamin D deficiency, rachitic changes and definite demineralization are uncommon and fracture risk is low.

Identification of Intraarticular and Periarticular Uric Acid Crystals with Dual-Energy CT: Initial Evaluation [Musculoskeletal Imaging]

Conclusion:
Initial retrospective assessment suggests that dual-energy CT is a sensitive, noninvasive, and reproducible method for identifying uric acid deposits in joints and periarticular soft tissues in patients suspected of having gout.

Cancellation of MR Imaging-guided Breast Biopsy Due to Lesion Nonvisualization: Frequency and Follow-Up [Breast Imaging]

Conclusion:
MR imaging-guided breast biopsy was canceled due to lesion nonvisualization in 8% of the patients. Although the cancer detection rate among the lesions for which biopsy was canceled is low (95% CI: 0%, 9%), short-term follow-up MR imaging is prudent.

Effect of Transition to Digital Mammography on Clinical Outcomes [Breast Imaging]

Conclusion:
Recall rate and cancer detection rate increase for at least 2 years after the transition to digital screening mammography. PPV3 is significantly reduced after digital transition, primarily in patients with microcalcifications.

Reproducibility of CT Perfusion Parameters in Liver Tumors and Normal Liver [Gastrointestinal Imaging]

Conclusion:
Absolute values and reproducibility of CT perfusion parameters were markedly influenced by motion and data acquisition time. PS, in particular, probably requires data acquisition beyond a single breath hold, for which motion-correction techniques are likely necessary.

Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis: Effect of Intensive Lipid Therapy on the Vasa Vasorum–Evaluation by Using Dynamic Contrast-enhanced MR Imaging [Neuroradiology]

Conclusion:
These findings suggest that DCE MR imaging may be a useful imaging method for the assessment of the therapeutic response of the vasa vasorum in patients with atherosclerotic plaque.

Mild Cognitive Impairment: Baseline and Longitudinal Structural MR Imaging Measures Improve Predictive Prognosis [Neuroradiology]

Conclusion:
Relative to the risk of conversion to AD conferred by the clinical diagnosis of MCI alone, MR imaging measures yield substantially more informative patient-specific risk estimates. Such predictive prognostic information will be critical if disease-modifying therapies become available.

Classification of Alzheimer Disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment, and Normal Cognitive Status with Large-Scale Network Analysis Based on Resting-State Functional MR Imaging [Neuroradiology]

Conclusion:
LSN analysis revealed that interconnectivity patterns of brain regions can be used to classify subjects with AD, those with aMCI, and CN subjects. In addition, the altered connectivity networks were significantly correlated with the results of cognitive tests.

Tetralogy of Fallot: Impact of the Excursion of the Interventricular Septum on Left Ventricular Systolic Function and Fibrosis after Surgical Repair [Cardiac Imaging]

Conclusion:
Abnormal IVS excursion after repair of TOF is associated with reduced global and septal LV systolic function and LV fibrosis at the RV-LV hinge points, suggesting a mechanism of adverse interventricular interaction.

Assessment of Adverse Reaction Rates during Gadoteridol-enhanced MR Imaging in 28 078 Patients [Contrast Media]

Conclusion:
The observed adverse reaction rate to gadoteridol was lower than previously reported. Specifically, the rate of nausea (0.530%) was less than half the rate (1.4%) in clinical trials of 1251 patients, leading to FDA approval in 1992. Rates of adverse reactions for this macrocyclic contrast agent are comparable to those published for linear gadolinium-based contrast [...]
