Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis: Effect of Intensive Lipid Therapy on the Vasa Vasorum–Evaluation by Using Dynamic Contrast-enhanced MR Imaging [Neuroradiology]

Conclusion:
These findings suggest that DCE MR imaging may be a useful imaging method for the assessment of the therapeutic response of the vasa vasorum in patients with atherosclerotic plaque.
Clinical trial registration no. NCT00715273.

Mild Cognitive Impairment: Baseline and Longitudinal Structural MR Imaging Measures Improve Predictive Prognosis [Neuroradiology]

Conclusion:
Relative to the risk of conversion to AD conferred by the clinical diagnosis of MCI alone, MR imaging measures yield substantially more informative patient-specific risk estimates. Such predictive prognostic information will be critical if disease-modifying therapies become available.

Classification of Alzheimer Disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment, and Normal Cognitive Status with Large-Scale Network Analysis Based on Resting-State Functional MR Imaging [Neuroradiology]

Conclusion:
LSN analysis revealed that interconnectivity patterns of brain regions can be used to classify subjects with AD, those with aMCI, and CN subjects. In addition, the altered connectivity networks were significantly correlated with the results of cognitive tests.

Tetralogy of Fallot: Impact of the Excursion of the Interventricular Septum on Left Ventricular Systolic Function and Fibrosis after Surgical Repair [Cardiac Imaging]

Conclusion:
Abnormal IVS excursion after repair of TOF is associated with reduced global and septal LV systolic function and LV fibrosis at the RV-LV hinge points, suggesting a mechanism of adverse interventricular interaction.

Assessment of Adverse Reaction Rates during Gadoteridol-enhanced MR Imaging in 28 078 Patients [Contrast Media]

Conclusion:
The observed adverse reaction rate to gadoteridol was lower than previously reported. Specifically, the rate of nausea (0.530%) was less than half the rate (1.4%) in clinical trials of 1251 patients, leading to FDA approval in 1992. Rates of adverse reactions for this macrocyclic contrast agent are comparable to those published for linear gadolinium-based contrast [...]

Comparison of the Effect of Low- and Iso-Osmolar Contrast Agents on Heart Rate during Chest CT Angiography: Results of a Prospective Randomized Multicenter Study [Thoracic Imaging]

Conclusion:
High-rate intravenous administration of 80 mL of iopamidol and iodixanol during pulmonary CT angiography slightly increased HR; there was no difference in HR between the contrast agent groups.

Extrahepatic Portal Biliopathy: Proposed Etiology on the Basis of Anatomic and Clinical Features [Gastrointestinal Imaging]

Conclusion:
Noncirrhotic patients with hypercoagulable states tend to develop PB when PVT extends to the splenomesenteric veins. A possible etiology is the formation of specific peribiliary venous pathways responsible for bile duct compression and tethering.

Dedicated Dual-Head Gamma Imaging for Breast Cancer Screening in Women with Mammographically Dense Breasts [Breast Imaging]

Conclusion:
Addition of gamma imaging to mammography significantly increased detection of node-negative breast cancer in dense breasts by 7.5 per 1000 women screened (95% CI: 3.6, 15.4). To be clinically important, gamma imaging will need to show equivalent performance at decreased radiation doses.

Women with Anorexia Nervosa: Finite Element and Trabecular Structure Analysis by Using Flat-Panel Volume CT [Musculoskeletal Imaging]

Conclusion:
Failure load and stiffness are abnormal in women with AN compared with those in normal-weight control subjects and correlate with BMD and trabecular parameters.

Can Preoperative Axillary US Help Exclude N2 and N3 Metastatic Breast Cancer? [Breast Imaging]

Conclusion:
Preoperative axillary US excluded 96% of N2 and N3 invasive ductal metastases. The false-negative rate for N2 and N3 invasive lobular cancer was significantly higher than that for invasive ductal cancer, which suggests that axillary US cannot be used to exclude N2 and N3 metastases in these patients.
